BRICKWORK IN MYSTIC CT. ~ This chimney was rebuilt from the roof up using a Robinson Brick Co. brick called ‘ cambridge’. What makes this brick a favorite of local masons are the bricks uniformity, color and ease in installation. When complete the brick take on an elegant antiquated look that is very pleasing and you have the additional benefit of the material being all new. Having new material face the weather is always a good thing for longer ware (longevity or longer lifespan). It’s always recommended to then water seal your chimney with a masonry sealer but you have…
CHARLESTOWN RI – THINSTONE OVERLAY OF DETERIORATING CHIMNEY. Most people may not realize if your chimney is showing signs of wear you could dress it up and correct problems by giving it a new skin ‘so-to-speak’. With the advent of thinstone products (material cut to 1 1/2” thick) you can go over the worn material  without having to tear things out in many cases. That was done with this chimney in Charlestown RI. A waterproof compound was added, then the stone layed directly over that. A beautiful ornate copper cap was added to give a finished detail look.
“OLDWORLD STONEWORK” with a ‘NEW’ World Twist ~ Now-a-days everyone is cost conscious, doing more with less, saving money, or trying to find deals seems to be most peoples mantra ~ getting all that you want whatever the cost is the exception …… a bye-gone time. So when something comes along which allows you to save money and still get what you want it needs to be recognized, and that is exactly what’s taking place with the thinstone marketplace. The warm charm of real stone, with its aesthetic beauty can once again be had by using thinstone (material which…
This front step & walkway was installed using the Stonemakes process with the design idea of simulating larger fieldstones & granite capped stairs. One nice feature using this technique is it's ability to be colored to your choice...notice how the tones in the walk match nicely with the siding of the house...a concern that the owner wanted us to meet. This was easily accomplished using the Stonemakers process. Additionally, because the stone shapes are carved in place verses stamped , we can create any patterns & any sizes (not limited to a stamping mat). The walkway stones were laid…
One of the advantages of the Stonemakers process is it can replicate nearly anything used in todays hardscapes. The challenge presented on this particular job was the type of repair required and it's location (limited space along backside of pool). Stonemakers was chosen for several reasons, the first was it's intergral strength. The reinforced concrete will outlast superiorly over wood railroad ties every time. The 2nd reason is ease if installation the concrete is placed( stacked) in such a way that no forms are necessary which allows for rapid installs subsequently creating lower costs for the homeowner (cheaper prices).…
This transformation took place in Jamestown,RI. The existing granite was disassmebled and reused on-site,while the brick work was torn out and replaced with stone. A Goshen Stone was chosen for it's color & texture creating a Nantucket style feel and appearance. The stone work was installed using extremenly tight joints making an appearance of a no mortar look. This techniques enhances the natural beauty of the stone drawing ones attention to all the stones. One beautiful feature of this job was the use of Black Cambrian Granite as the border & tread elements. The black color of the granite…

This home will be reminiscent of classic New England homes that feature local stone within the structure and hard-scape of the property.
Cement Artistry by Stonemakers by Dotolo Brothers Masonry– Creating & simulating different style of stone is made easy using the stonemakers concrete process. Here at the Pawcatuck CT jobsite, you see a mosaic style granite which was chosen to make the raised plant bed & double sided border wall. Pawcatuck CT borders Westerly RI, an area famous for its rich history in the granite industry - In keeping with this rich tradition this style of carving was chosen . The colors used were earth tones tan & brown with black flecking for granite simulation.
